<p>This message is circulating Facebook as users are posting it to their status. The message provides various legal privacy statements and the paragraph at the end urges users to post the message. It also mentions that Facebook is a publically traded website.</p>
<p>It is unclear regarding the motivation for posting it. The message hints that because Facebook is now a publically traded website that Facebook users should be more careful with their personal accounts which can be achieved by posting the above message to their profiles.</p>
<p>This, however, is pointless for two reasons -</p>
<p>1. Just because Facebook is now a publically traded website this does not affect what Facebook can or cannot do with the information you share on Facebook. You, and Facebook, are still bound to the same terms and conditions, and Facebook have to notify you regarding any significant changes to those terms. The term &#8220;publically traded&#8221; does not refer at all to how your data is treated on Facebook &#8211; i.e. this does not mean your information on Facebook is publically traded. It still has the same privacy conditions as before when Facebook was a private company. The term &#8220;publically traded&#8221; means that the public can buy Facebook shares on the stock market.</p>
<p>2. Posting the above message makes NO difference to what Facebook &#8211; and others &#8211; can do with that data on your profile. When you sign up to Facebook you have to agree to their terms and conditions which includes Facebooks own privacy terms. The implication that Facebook users can make up their own privacy conditions merely by posting a message on their profile is ridiculous. You can read Facebooks data policy here.</p>
<p>The message quotes the Uniform Commerical Code with the code &#8220;UCC 1-103 1-308&#8243; attached to the end. The UCC deals with commerical law in the United States, and nothing to do with privacy or social networking, meaning even if Facebook did not have its own terms of service, or even if posting the above message did somehow supercede Facebooks terms of service, it would still be meaningless because it has nothing to do with online privacy.</p>
<p>Facebook users are advised to be aware that posting the above message to their Facebook account would be completely pointless and will have NO effect on how their data is used. Also worth remembering is that if you really want something to stay private make sure you have the correct privacy settings applied, or better yet, do not post it on Facebook, a site designed for sharing information.</p>
<p>Facebook is the perfect platform for starting and spreading viral rumors. Hundreds of false rumors are passed between site members every single day, some accumulating prolific and worldwide circulation. Be it sharing pictures or posts or updating your status, the social networking nature of Facebook ensures an easy path for misinformation.</p>

<p>Every logo is different, which makes it impossible to give a flat price for any particular design. This being the case, all graphic designers use different methods to determine the <strong> cost for developing a logo.</strong> We will describe some of the most common methods for logo pricing below.</p>
<p>Depending on whhere you will want to use your logo, which should be on every item associated with your business. You will want your logo to look good in black and white as well as in color. Make sure you request both versions from a designer.</p>

<p>You will notice that nearly all of the logos above use free standard issue fonts and don’t assign to the rules of what makes a good logo ie. describable, memorable, effective without color and scalable.</p>

<p>A very common way for graphic designers to charge is by the hour. Depending on the experience, location, and many other factors, the hourly rate can be anywhere from $8.00 (outsourced overseas) to $500.00 per hour (For a high-level consultant)! This is a huge difference but I have seen both and just about everything in between. See Below for common rates.</p>
<p>The important thing is to make sure the logo designer is worth the rate they charge. Always check with the designers past clients and remember &#8211; you really do &#8220;get what you pay for&#8221;.<br />
Flat Fee Pricing</p>
<p>Many <strong>graphic design</strong> firms will give you a set price to deliver a logo design. They will usually give you a few variations to choose from. Make sure you have a thorough and complete requirements list before you begin the project. Make sure you get it in writing so you both have clear expectations.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>We realize that not all <a href="http://www.thenextweb.com/twitter">Twitter</a> users are iOS or Android fans, that’s why there’s a version of the app for BlackBerry. It hasn’t been a fully-integrated experience, but it’s been serviceable at best. That changes today with a brand new version of the app that ties Twitter closely to BlackBerry Messenger, the platform’s most used functionality.</p>
<p>Here’s what Twitter <a href="http://blog.twitter.com/2012/04/better-connected-twitter-for-blackberry.html">had to say</a> about the update today:</p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><em><span style="color: #888888;">Twitter for BlackBerry makes it easier to share links to web pages directly from the browser. When you tweet a link it will automatically be shortened so it takes up fewer characters. And, you can upload photos to Twitter (pic.twitter.com) right from your device’s camera or when writing your Tweets.</span></em></p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><em><span style="color: #888888;">Now you can connect your Twitter account with BlackBerry Messenger. This makes it possible to share your latest Tweet as your BBM Personal Message. You can also access your contacts’ Twitter accounts right from their BBM profiles.</span></em></p>
<p>With BlackBerry embracing Twitter, it will be interesting to see if the number of users and interactions increase on the platform, especially now that you’ll be able to find someone’s Twitter name on their BBM profile. BlackBerry keeps <a href="http://thenextweb.com/mobile/2011/12/07/now-blackberry-users-can-send-gifts-via-bbm-just-in-time-for-christmas/">BBM</a> extremely closed, so the fact that it’s opening it up to Twitter means that the two companies are working closely together on the product.</p>
<p>Being able to actually tweet from BBM, which we thought was the case at first, would be an absolutely killer feature, but might take a chunk of out the traffic that takes place on the messaging network now.</p>

<p>As part of our mission to empower Creative Professionals around the world, we are now introducing in-person critiques among members of our community. Attend a Portfolio Review to present your work to an audience of peers, get feedback and advice, learn how to hone your critical eye, and meet other creatives.</p>
<p>Between May 14th-21st, Behance Portfolio Reviews will be happening in cities and towns around the world. This is your chance to take part in the Behance Community offline, and to be part of a collective experience of sharing and receiving feedback.</p>

<p><strong>How does it work?</strong></p>

<li id="creatives">3-6 creatives (per event) will present work and gather feedback from attendees.</li>
<li id="organizer">Each event will have an organizer who will moderate the discussion after each creative presents their work.</li>
<li id="reviews">Reviews will run for about 45 minutes, followed by some time to mingle and have drinks.</li>

In Sally’s case, Google Analytics with Social Reports recognizes that Sally originally came to the site thanks to Twitter, left, came back later and eventually made the purchase. This is an “Assisted Social Conversion.”</span></p>

<p>With brands under the gun to revamp and adjust their Facebook strategy before the March 30 date when all pages will be ported onto Timeline, word is that the new Timeline set-up is boosting user engagement by 46%.</p>
<p>A <a href="http://simplymeasured.com/blog/2012/03/the-impact-of-facebook-timeline-for-brands-study/">study</a> out Tuesday on the three-week-old opportunity to shift brand pages to the new Facebook Time, conducted by Simply Measured, has reduced the fears that many companies had about changing their social networking pages.</p>
<p>The study found that when it looked at the user engagement of 15 brand pages, the shift from the old Facebook layout to the new Timeline structure resulted in a jump in various types of user engagement. Some companies, such as Livestrong and Toyota experienced a 161% and 156% pop in engagement, respectively.</p>

<p>Marketers have been expressing concern the last few months about the new Timeline structure and making the switch over since contests, games and other apps would be impacted by the change.</p>
<p>Timeline was always designed to help increase engagement and provide a more district voice and history to companies that want to layer in video, audio, pictures and other elements for their followers &#8212; and it appears to be doing just that.</p>
<p>Facebook said the transition to Timeline is going well, and more than 8 million brands, nonprofits and companies having already switched their pages to the new format.</p>

<p><strong><span style="font-size: 11pt;">The Timeline study</span></strong></p>
<p>A closer look at the study data shows that the number of responses and comments on the brand pages actually dropped with the new Timeline set-up but the number of people viewing multimedia shot up more than 65%.</p>
<p>One theory is that the larger images on Timeline encourage more people to view and interact with those elements than reply or share a post.</p>
<p>Within the 15 brands studied, Livestrong, Toyota, Humane Society, and Red Bull showed the largest percentage increase in engagement, and, especially a sizable lift in per post averages.</p>
<p>One key focus that Facebook Timeline has is that it pushes relevant and compelling information to the people that would be most interested in that content.</p>

<p>And one of the most surprising findings was that even if a company has not posted in more than a week, content that was featured still attracted new engagement (from viewing to sharing to commenting.) So somehow, the layout is giving these brand pages a fresher feel and a livelier look to encourage fans to interact.</p>

<p><strong><span style="font-size: 11pt;">Overhauls in branding aplenty</span></strong></p>
<p>Just two months ago, Twitter started rejiggering the brand pages and availability of new features for big spenders on its site so that the companies could have more flexibility in their layout and design.</p>
<p>While Twitter <a href="http://vator.tv/news/2011-12-09-twitter-takes-adverting-to-new-level-with-brand-pages">introduced</a> a limited selection of brand pages in December, which 20+ companies got invitations to start, Feb.1 could mark the day that more companies roll out brand pages and new functions as long as they&#8217;ve already committed $25,000, <a href="http://adage.com/article/digital/twitter-roll-brand-pages-paying-advertisers/232381/?utm_source=digital_email&amp;utm_medium=newsletter&amp;utm_campaign=adage">according</a> to AdAge.</p>
<p>Currently, the brand pages have been designated to the big global companies that already spend a lot of cash on advertising and promoted tweet on the site, such as Nike, Coca-Cola, Disney Pixar and HP.</p>
<p>These brand pages have allowed companies to customize the landing page for their central Twitter handle and feature certain content on the top of the page, while making other Twitter correspondences lower on the page &#8212; so that no matter how often the company tweets (or people tweet at it) a video clip or promoted item will remain on the top of the page.</p>
<p>While the existing Page APIs will remain intact, Facebook has created a new admin panel and Activity Log lets Pages see a quick view of their Insights data, respond to inbound private messages, and feature, hide, or delete posts.</p>
<p>This change will be most beneficial for brands lengthy, detailed histories where they can add milestones and photos throughout the past.</p>
<p>This is the first time that the companies can coherently reference company events that preceded Facebook and add video, comments and other interactive elements that followers that learn from.</p>

<p>Marketers have reasons to be both excited by the story-telling but also could be upset because the current Timeline set-up reduces the prominence of apps which could hurt companies that have turned to gamification for more customer feedback and interaction.</p>
<p>Under the Timeline layout, pages can no longer display their custom applications as their default landing tab like they could prior. This was a powerful marketing feature where brands would introduce their company with access to an app that teased special content like contests or coupons.</p>
<p>Without the default landing tabs, users don&#8217;t have to &#8220;like&#8221; a page in order to access some of the major content and marketers could lose the number of email signups, contest entries, and other key performance indicators.</p>
<p>But this all could change once Facebook gets sufficient feedback from brands on how to weave in the apps and gamification elements without sacrificing the Timeline aesthetic.</p>

The site has long housed work from some of the most compelling designers alive, and this redesign fine tunes everything without ditching its core.</p>
<p>The site started nearly six years ago, and now millions of visitors, enthusiasts and creative professionals from across industries use Behance every day to connect and showcase their creations. Most recently, the site <a href="http://thenextweb.com/dd/2012/01/06/behance-iphone-app-is-the-ultimate-pocket-portfolio-for-creatives/">launched a slick iPhone app</a> and before that Behance <a href="http://thenextweb.com/dd/2012/01/02/design-students-discover-and-showcase-your-work-with-student-show-by-behance/">released a student only gallery</a> that shows off the next generation of creative talent.</p>
<p>As for the new version, the team says it catapults the original core functionality of Behance to a whole new level — we can’t help but agree.</p>
<p>More specifically, key features like gallery browsing, activity feeds, member profiles, curated galleries and following members have all be retooled. The goal? “To provide a level of discovery, efficiency, and transparency that the creative world has never seen.”</p>
